Privacy Policy

Mohamed Ariff ("Developer", "we", "us", or "our") built the EzSolat app ("App") as an ad-supported mobile application. The App is a prayer companion for Malaysian Muslims and is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. This Service is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App. It is designed to comply with the requirements of the Google Play Developer Program Policies, the Apple App Store Review Guidelines, and Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the practices described herein.

1. Information We Collect

EzSolat does not require user registration or an account. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information. The data we process falls into the categories below.

a) Location Data

With your permission, the App accesses your device's GPS coordinates to:

• Determine your location for accurate prayer time calculation (latitude and longitude are sent to HERE Technologies for reverse geocoding to identify your state/zone).
• Calculate Qibla (direction of the Kaaba in Mecca) using on-device computation only.
• Query the e-Solat JAKIM API for nearby mosque information.

Your precise GPS coordinates are not stored on our servers. They are transmitted to HERE Technologies solely to service the geocoding request and are not retained by us after the request is fulfilled.

b) Device Sensor Data

The App uses your device's compass (magnetometer), accelerometer, and gyroscope to power the Qibla compass feature. All sensor data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted off-device.

c) Crash and Diagnostic Data

We use Sentry for crash reporting and performance monitoring. When an error occurs, the following information may be automatically collected and sent to Sentry's servers:

• Device type, operating system, and OS version
• App version and build number
• Error/crash stack traces and log data
• General location context (country and state — not precise GPS)
• Language preference and screen size
• IP address (collected by Sentry as part of standard operation)

d) Prayer Time Queries

The App queries a Supabase database to retrieve prayer time schedules. These queries include your selected country and state/zone and the current date. No user identifier is attached to these requests.

e) Advertising Data

The App displays advertisements via Google AdMob. We have configured AdMob to serve non-personalised ads only. AdMob and its mediation partners may collect limited device information (such as device identifiers for ad attribution, IP address, and interaction data with ads) in accordance with their own privacy policies. Our ad mediation partners include:

• Meta Audience Network (Facebook)
• AppLovin
• Pangle (ByteDance)
• InMobi

On iOS, the App participates in Apple's SKAdNetwork for privacy-preserving ad attribution.

f) Locally Stored Data

The following preferences and data are stored locally on your device only and are never transmitted to any server:

• Language preference and selected state/zone
• Notification settings (per-prayer toggle)
• Font and colour theme preferences
• Cached prayer time schedules (up to 7 days, for widget use)
• Ad impression timestamps (for frequency capping)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

• Provide core app functionality — calculate prayer times, display Qibla direction, and schedule prayer notifications.
• Diagnose and fix issues — crash reports help us identify and resolve bugs quickly.
• Serve advertisements — to sustain the free app model through non-personalised ads.
• Improve the Service — aggregated diagnostic data helps us understand performance and improve the App.

The App uses the following third-party services that may collect data as described in their respective privacy policies:

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties. Information is shared only with the third-party service providers listed in Section 3, strictly for the purposes described. Specifically:

• Location data is shared with HERE Technologies solely to determine your prayer time zone.
• Diagnostic data is shared with Sentry solely for crash reporting and performance monitoring.
• Limited device data may be shared with ad networks (Google AdMob and its mediation partners) to serve non-personalised advertisements.

We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests by Malaysian authorities or other governmental bodies.

5. Data Retention

Since the App does not require user accounts and does not store personal data on our servers, there is minimal data retained by us directly. Third-party services retain data according to their own policies:

• Sentry retains crash and diagnostic data for 90 days by default.
• Ad networks retain data according to their respective privacy policies linked in Section 3.
• Locally stored data on your device persists until you clear the App's data or uninstall the App.

6. Your Rights and Data Deletion

Under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA), you have the right to access and correct your personal data. Since EzSolat does not collect or store personal data on any server, there is no account data or profile to delete.

To remove all locally stored App data, you can:

• Android: Go to Settings → Apps → EzSolat → Storage → Clear Data, or uninstall the App.
• iOS: Uninstall (delete) the App from your device.

To request deletion of diagnostic data held by Sentry, or to exercise any rights under the PDPA, please contact us at the email address provided in Section 12.

7. Push Notifications

The App may request permission to send push notifications for prayer time reminders. All notifications are scheduled locally on your device — we do not operate any remote push notification servers. You can enable or disable notifications for each prayer time individually within the App, or disable all notifications through your device's system settings.

8. App Permissions

The App may request the following device permissions:

Permissions that require explicit consent (location, notifications) are requested at runtime. You may revoke any permission at any time through your device settings, though some features may not function without them.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. Since the App does not require registration or collect personal information, there is no mechanism through which a child could provide personal data. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information through a third-party service, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

10. Security

We value the trust you place in us and strive to protect any information processed by the App. All network communications use HTTPS encryption. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Links to Other Sites

The App may contain links to external websites or services. These third-party sites are not operated by us and have their own privacy policies. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policies of any external sites you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.

14. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia, including the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA). Any disputes relating to this Privacy Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.
